Abbey Phelps is a board-certified orthopedic Physical Therapist with Memorial Hermann Rockets Sports Medicine Institute in Houston, Texas where she leads the physical therapy side of the collaborative Hip Preservation Program between Memorial Hermann and UT orthopedics. Abbey received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and obtained her doctorate of physical therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas.
She is a residency graduate of Memorial Hermann’s Rockets Sports Medicine Orthopedic Residency program and has advanced training and certification in dry needling from Evidence in Motion. She now serves as a faculty member and teaches the hip module didactic content for the Rockets Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Residency program. She is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Texas Physical Therapy Association. Her clinical interests include post-operative and conservative care of the hip and knee, return to sport, and collaboration with our hip preservation physicians and physical therapists.
In her free time, Abbey enjoys reading, group fitness classes, and travelling with her husband.
