Dr. Alexa Edwards is a Residency-Trained and Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist with Memorial Hermann Rockets Sports Medicine Institute in Houston, at the Texas Medical Center. Within Memorial Hermann, Alexa serves as a lead hip therapist on the Hip Preservation Team, as well as the Spine Program Quality Coordinator and lead spine therapist.
She is a faculty member for the Memorial Hermann Orthopedic and Sports Residency programs, serves frequently as a clinical instructor for graduate students, and has presented research at multiple local and national conferences. Alexa holds certification in Functional Dry Needling and is a Pregnant and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist.
Alexa completed her undergraduate education at UC Santa Barbara in 2009 in English Literature, obtained her yoga teacher certification, teaching hot yoga for many years, and went on to graduate with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in 2017.
Alexa swam Division 1 in college and continues to be very active in swimming, running, yoga, and strength-training. She enjoys helping patients with spine, hip, and foot/ankle injuries who are returning to physical activity, as well as pregnant and postpartum patients/athletes.
Outside of the clinic, Alexa can be found spending time with her husband and three kids. She loves backpacking, traveling, being active, and getting lost in a good book.
